Black Pearl 40002 – KOL Featured

Pieces are warped, won't fit, had to glue the majority of the parts so they would stay together. Unsure if I would purchase anything else in the future after building this one. I'm not a beginner. I've put together about $8000 worth of Lego bricks.

The black pearl was my first JMBricklayer build. It was an enjoyable build other than a few items. 1) Sails - the punched hole was to close to the edge leaving it cut and unable to hang on the ship. I used fabric glue to bring the edges together and the problem was resolved. 2) The green "teeth" were extremely difficult to put into the U shaped bricks. Unless you have strong hand strength you are going to need a hammer.

All lights worked and they look really good!

Quality and design is really good. The steps to constructing some phases could use some revamping. Some phases require pressure to lock the bricks into place, but sometimes, there is no room to place fingers to do so because some structures are blocking the way. This is an easy fix for experienced builders who can take things apart and reconstruct out of sequence, but having them in sequence to begin with would really help. Overall, the end result is awesome and looks great.

This was a very enjoyable build! The included light kit adds tremendous value to the display appeal! Highly recommended!
